Note
Oxidation = loss of e (at anode); reduction = gain of e (at cathode). Electrons flow through the external wire from anode → cathode; ions swim through the solution to close the circuit. Electrolysis is the reverse: an external source forces the reaction and the electrode signs flip.

About Electrochemistry

Electrochemistry is one of 20 topics in the Matter & Atom domain (10⁻¹⁰ m scale) at My Labs — an interactive simulation atlas. This virtual lab runs right in your browser: adjust the parameters, pick a scenario and watch the phenomenon change in real time, with a click-to-inspect cross-section for every structure.
