QUASAR / AGN SIMULATION

Quasars, blazars and radio galaxies were once catalogued as three kinds of object; mostly they are one structure seen from three angles. Near 4 degrees the plasma jet points almost straight at us and beaming turns it into a blazar, while past 70 degrees the dusty torus hides the disk and only the twin radio lobes remain. Accretion rate spans a huge range, from a near-dormant Sgr A* all the way to TON 618 at some 66 billion solar masses.
